Supriya Pathak, renowned for her portrayal of the beloved character Hansa Parekh, once shared a heartwarming anecdote about her encounter with the late legendary actress Sridevi.
According to a Hindustan Times report, in an interview during the promotions of ‘Khichdi 2’, Supriya disclosed the unexpected yet delightful interaction she had with Sridevi during a flight, leaving an indelible impression on her.
Recalling her chance meeting with Sridevi, Supriya recounted, “I was coming from the US, and Sridevi was on the same flight. Naturally, she is great, one of my favorite actors. We met, and she was very happy to see me.”

Supriya then narrated the extraordinary request made by Sridevi, stating, “Normally, an actor would never come and ask you to enact a character. It’s not done because you are an actor, and you don’t expect it.” However, to Supriya’s pleasant surprise, Sridevi asked her to speak in Hansa’s characteristic manner, prompting a gleeful response from Supriya. “I was so happy. I said, ‘Hello, how are, khana kha ke jana.’ She was thrilled throughout the flight, laughing,” Supriya reminisced, highlighting Sridevi’s genuine admiration for the iconic sitcom ‘Khichdi.’

For the unversed, ‘Khichdi,’ a beloved TV show, later transitioned into a successful film, and its sequel, ‘Khichdi 2 Mission Paanthukistan.’ Supriya who reprised her role as Hansa, expressed her gratitude for the enduring love she has received for her portrayal. “It was important for me to believe that such a character exists, and then I imbibed it and put it across to the audience,” she shared with ANI, reflecting on her portrayal of Hansa. “The love received by Hansa made me believe that she’s a beautiful character, and I love playing the role of Hansa,” Supriya added, acknowledging the profound impact her character has had on viewers over the years.
