Russia’s presidential office says Vladimir Putin will visit North Korea from Tuesday to Wednesday to meet with the country’s leader, Kim Jong Un.

North Korea’s state-run TV has also reported Putin will come to the country at the invitation of Kim.

Putin’s visit to the country is his first in 24 years.

Putin was invited to North Korea when he met with Kim at the Vostochny spaceport in Russia’s Far East in September last year.

Russia is reportedly procuring munitions and other equipment from North Korea as its invasion of Ukraine drags on.

Putin apparently wants to further deepen military ties with Pyongyang.

North Korea is believed to be looking for more technology assistance from Russia in military, space and other fields, after Pyongyang’s failed military spy satellite launch in late May.
