ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq underscored the need to enhance bilateral ties between Pakistan and Germany, with a particular focus on expanding cooperation between parliamentary friendship groups and facilitating exchanges of parliamentary delegations.

These remarks were made during a meeting with a German parliamentary delegation who visited him. Discussions encompassed a wide array of bilateral, regional, and global issues.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the current state of bilateral relations, especially parliamentary ties, and reaffirmed their commitment to broadening and diversifying mutually beneficial cooperation. Speaker Sadiq highlighted the multifaceted and friendly relationship between Pakistan and Germany, underpinned by shared interests and aligned positions on various regional and global matters.

“The time is ripe to strengthen parliamentary, cultural, economic, and people-to-people ties between our nations, aiming for sustainable development goals,” remarked Speaker Sadiq. Discussions also touched upon bilateral trade and economic cooperation, both directly and within the European context. Sadiq emphasized Pakistan’s proactive initiatives aimed at fostering a conducive environment for economic and trade activities, offering substantial investment opportunities to friendly nations for mutual benefit.

The German delegation expressed gratitude to Speaker Sadiq for his warm reception and reiterated Germany’s view of Pakistan as a crucial regional player.

They affirmed Germany’s commitment to deepening linkages across all areas of mutual interest, including parliamentary and cultural exchanges. The delegation included Members of the German Parliament Michael Müller, Christoph Schmid, and Derya Türk-Nachbaur, as well as parliamentary officials and representatives from the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Pakistan.
