Nordic Shares Closed Down Friday; A.P. Moeller-Maersk B Took Biggest Hit

Nordic stocks fell Friday, with the OMX Nordic 40 Index declining 0.7%.

A.P. Moeller-Maersk A/S Series B posted the largest decline during the session, plunging 16.9%, followed by A.P. Moeller-Maersk A/S Series A shares, which plunged 16.5%. Shares of D/S Norden A/S tumbled 12.0%.

Storskogen Group AB Series B was the biggest leader, increasing 8.3%, and NEL ASA gained 6.2%. ISS A/S rounded out the top three leaders on Friday, with shares adding 6.2%.

Elsewhere in Europe, indexes were mixed, with the STOXX Europe 600 Index increasing 0.2% and the FTSE 100 Index dropping 0.4% from the previous close.

In Asia, China’s Shanghai Composite Index was up 0.7%, while Japan’s Tokyo Stock Exchange was closed.

In commodities news, Brent crude oil futures were down 2.3%, while gold futures were up 0.3%. Bitcoin was down 1.1% to $34,543.

On the currency front, the WSJ Dollar Index declined 0.9% to 99.41.

Against the euro, the Swedish krona was up 0.9%, the Danish krone was flat, the Norwegian krone was flat, the Icelandic krona was down 0.7%, and the U.S. dollar was down 1.1%.

Against the U.S. dollar, the Swedish krona was up 2.0%, the Danish krone was up 1.1%, the euro was up 1.1%, the Norwegian krone was up 1.0%, and the Icelandic krona was up 0.3%.
