Marvel Shares a Look at Uncanny X-Men
[ad_1]
After a weekend at WonderCon where upcoming Uncanny X-Men writer Gail Simone explained some of her approach to the new series that will be one of the three “core” X-Men titles launching as part of the “From the Ashes” X-Men relaunch, as well as revealing that there will be four new mutants introduced in the series, Simone has now shared on social media a piece of artwork that was originally revealed during her WonderCon panel. The page is from Uncanny X-Men artist, David Marquez.
Marquez, who first gained fame working on the early days of Miles Morales’ Ultimate Spider-Man run with Brian Michael Bendis, has a history with the X-Men, as well, drawing a few issues of All-New X-Men from Bendis’ run on that series, and doing an epic promotional piece of art that helped launch the interim Uncanny X-Men title that appeared in 2018 to give Jonathan Hickman time to launch the Krakoan Age of the X-Men. Marquez now returns to the X-titles for a new Uncanny X-Men series with Simone featuring Wolverine, Rogue, Gambit and Jubilee. Besides the shared preview art, Marquez has also shared some of his designs for Rogue and Gambit on his own social media.

The preview page shows Wolverine leaning against a motorcycle, when he is approached by Rogue and Gambit, flying in from the sky. The three X-Men superheroes hug as they reunite, set to become part of a new X-Men team (as the three “core” X-Men teams are now going to be located in three different cities. How do David Marquez’s Rogue and Gambit designs look?
On Marquez’s social media (both today and a week ago), he has released his concept artwork for Gambit and Rogue’s new look for the series. Marquez is clearly going back to the classic 1990s Jim Lee designs for the two X-Men heroes, but with a few pieces of modern flair, as well.
Uncanny X-Men #1 is set to be released on August 7th.
