Kate ‘most popular royal’ as Queen’s favourite grandson splits from girlfriend

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are among the least popular royals in the eyes of Britons, a new poll claimed.

Harry only garnered 31 per cent of positive opinions while Megahn gained only 26 per cent.

However, the duke and duchess are more popular among younger brits, with 18-24 year olds tending to be more positive towards them than their elders.

Prince Andrew has been named as the least popular royal according to a new YouGov poll.

The survey found that just a mere 6 per cent of Britons have a positive view of the disgraced prince, compared to 86 per cent who have a negative opinion.

The duke has been put back into the spotlight this month with the release of the Netflix drama Scoop about his disastrous Newsnight interview.

The late Queen’s favourite grandson has suffered a fresh heartbreak as he split from his girlfriend of three years.

Peter Phillips, 46, has split from his partner Lindsay Wallace, 43, three years after they struck up a romance in 2021.

A source told The Sun: “They were friends before their relationship blossomed. But Peter and Lindsay have gone their separate ways as the relationship simply ran its course.”

The couple reportedly met through Mr Phillip’s sister, Zara Phillips, whom Ms Wallace was a classmate of.

Although friends for several years, the pair struck up a romance after Mr Phillip’s split from his wife Autumn Kelly with whom he shares two children.

The Princess of Wales has been crowned Britain’s favourite royal in a poll describing her as popular “across the generations”.

A new YouGov survey revealed that 76 per cent of Britons have a positive view of Kate – a six-point increase since the start of the year.

The surge in popularity comes weeks after the princess revealed she had been diagnosed with cancer in a heartfelt video message following weeks of speculation around her health.

Her husband, William, also garnered the support of 73 per cent of the country while 63 per cent had a favourable opinion of King Charles.

When it comes to the institution of the monarchy in general, 58 per cent of Britons overall have a positive view, but this ranges from 79 per cent of the over-65s to 32 per cent of 18-24 year olds.

Prince Harry “regrets losing and really misses” the friendship he had with the Princess of Wales, a royal author has claimed.

Tom Quinn says Harry feels “torn” over losing the close bond he once shared with Kate.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have reportedly reached out to the Princess following her cancer diagnosis.

Mr Quinn told the Mirror: “Harry really misses that warm, uncomplicated relationship, but he is torn between loyalty to his wife and regret about the loss of the woman he was close to.”

“I’ve left them very much to do their own thing because I think the last thing they want is me peeking around the edges offering my [views],” Maitlis told Deadline.

The Newsnight host is also executive producer of a rival three-part Amazon series about the same interview, which will star Ruth Wilson as Maitlis.

King Charles and Queen Camilla are marking their “emotional” 19th wedding anniversary today amid a turbulent time in their personal lives.

The monarchs married on April 9 2005, 35 years after first meeting in 1970.

This year, the pair are likely to be celebrating the milestone “behind closed doors” as Charles continues to undergo cancer treatment.

Former butler Grant Harrold told The Express: “I’m sure this year will be a bit more poignant and probably a bit emotional with everything going on.

“I have no doubt they’ll be together for the occasion, and I’m sure behind closed doors, they’ll probably have a romantic dinner with just the two of them.”

France became the first non-Commonwealth country to take part in the traditional ceremony on Monday as 32 members of the Gendarmerie’s Garde Republicaine and 40 Guardsmen from F Company Scots Guards paraded together on the Forecourt of Buckingham Palace.

The ceremony was organised to mark the 120th anniversary of the Entente Cordiale – the historic diplomatic agreement between Britain and France which laid the groundwork for their collaboration in both world wars.
