By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, China’s Foreign Ministry dismissed Taiwan’s concerns over repeated harassment by Chinese drones near Taiwanese-controlled islands, Reuters reports.
Earlier this month, China conducted military drills immediately following the visit of U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan.
In addition, a video emerged of Taiwanese soldiers throwing rocks toward a Chinese drone.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said “Chinese drones flying about Chinese territory, this is not something to make a fuss about.”
Meanwhile, Taiwanese authorities say that “There is an ancient Chinese teaching that ‘uninvited people are called thieves. Whether it is breaking through the door or peeping from the air, the people of Taiwan do not welcome such thieves.”
Taiwanese authorities reported another drone incursion today near the Lion Islet, part of the Kinmen group of islands that sit opposite the Chinese cities of Xiamen and Quanzhou.
