Good morning, and welcome back to the SurreyLive oil spill blog.
Traffic is building in the Leatherhead area, following a large oil spill on the A24 near Capel.
The road, is a link road to the M25, many use it to join the motorway, it also cuts through Ashtead, Epsom and Ewell, directly connecting the towns to the M25.
As a result, many drivers are having to take alternative routes, creating congestion in other areas.
According to traffic monitoring service, Inrix, traffic is coping well in the surrounding area. Inrix reports: “The A24 Northbound closed due to spillage of diesel from Rusper Road (Clark’s Green Roundabout, Capel) to B2122 Epsom Road (Knoll Roundabout, Leatherhead). Traffic is coping well.
“Road remains closed for clean up following a lorry leaking diesel on the road on Tuesday.”
