Downtown Country Market opens new season at Fountain Plaza

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Downtown Country Market returned Thursday for its 42nd season, this time at a new location.

You can find a dozen vendors at Fountain Plaza every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The market made the move from a different spot on Main Street because of construction. It features produce, specialty foods, and homemade goods.

The market also partners with the Field and Fork Network, which makes sure everyone has access to healthy foods.

“If somebody wanted to buy $10 worth of apples, we would provide them with $20 total, with that additional $10 to spend at no cost to them,” Jackie Jonmaire, manager of marketing for Buffalo Place, told 2 On Your Side.

“And the thought with the program via Field and Fork Network, which we’ve presented here at the farmers market since 2017, would be to stimulate the economy of our farmer’s markets in general, but also to encourage fresh healthy eating for our region.”

If you couldn’t make it today, you can check out the market next Thursday and every Thursday through Oct. 24.
