Competition to turn table over and vent frustration in northern Japan | NHK WORLD-JAPAN

People from various age groups have taken part in a unique competition to overturn a low table while they shout out their wish or frustration.
The event took place in a northern prefecture of Iwate in Japan on Saturday.
Young members of a commerce group in the Town of Yahaba in the prefecture has organized the event every year hoping to revitalize the town.
This year about 30 participants ranging from two to 74 years old competed each other, flipping a 40-centimeter square table.
They competed by the uniqueness of their costume, their phrases as well as how far a toy saury fish on the table flips.
One participant shouted “Don’t leave your socks lying around” while others said “I want to lose weight” or “Too much homework.”
Spectators laughed and clapped, thoroughly enjoying the event.
The winner was from Morioka City in Iwate Prefecture who came with his child. He sent the toy fish flying for 7.44 meters that is, he said, further than he thought he could.
He said that it was a first time for him to take part in the event which is very good as it let people excited together.
