Australia win ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 final against India

COLOMBO (News 1st) – Australia emerged victorious defeating India by six wickets to claim the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 title at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, India.
Australia won the toss and elected to field first. They restricted India to a total of 240 runs all out, thanks to a solid bowling performance from Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Adam Zampa.
In reply, Australia openers Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne put on a brilliant partnership of 132 runs. Head went on to score a century, and Labuschagne made a half-century. Australia’s middle order also contributed, and they reached the target with seven overs to spare.
Australia’s victory was their sixth World Cup title, a record. They have now won more World Cups than any other team.
Travis Head was named player of the match for his brilliant century. He was also the top scorer for Australia.
India’s Virat Kohli was named player of the tournament. He was the leading run-scorer for India.
