RUMOR: Spider-Man 4 to See Peter Parker ‘Take a Back Seat’

While plot details for the project are under wraps, a new rumor for Spider-Man 4 declares that Peter Parker might become less prominent in his alter ego’s life.

Per The Cosmic Circus, insider Alex Perez shared this claim about Spider-Man 4 when asked about Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, specifically what Peter would be like moving forward, in a Discord Q&A session. Perez replied that Peter’s first trilogy was “all about establishing his origin in the MCU” and, after a lengthy recap of his appearances, stated that this “all leads to the next chapter in his story.”

Kingpin Actor Vincent D’Onofrio Reveals If He’s Been Approached for Spider-Man, Avengers Sequels

Echo star Vincent D’Onofrio reveals if Marvel Studios has reached out to him about Kingpin appearing in Spider-Man 4 or Avengers: Secret Wars.

“The idea now moving forward is to give him a sense of independence,” Perez continued. “In his mind, Peter Parker is no more… but Spider-Man lives on. Since he has either lost or detached himself from everyone he’s ever loved, all he has to keep him going is being Spider-Man, whether the city loves him for it or not. And as the title of Spider-Man continues to consume Peter’s life little by little, Peter Parker will take a back seat and continue to fade from existence slowly. This story point can be compared to Robert Pattinson’s Batman in The Batman.” As of now, neither Marvel nor Disney have confirmed this, so it should be taken with a grain of salt.

Tom Holland Has Confirmed Spider-Man 4 Talks

Prior to this, Holland himself delved into what his condition for reprising the role for Spider-Man 4 is in 2023, remarking that he and Marvel Studios were “actively engaging in conversations” about what it could look like and them “[finding] a way to do justice” to Spider-Man is another thing. “I feel very protective over Spider-Man,” Holland further noted. “I feel very, very lucky that we were able to work on a franchise that got better with each movie, that got more successful with each movie, which I think is really rare, and I want to protect his legacy. So, I won’t make another one for the sake of making another one. It will have to be worth the while of the character.”

Spider-Man

Since his first appearance in 1962, Spider-Man has almost always been Marvel Comics’ most popular character. Known for his sense of humor and bad luck as well as his selflessness and super-strength, Spider-Man has helmed countless titles over the years, Spider-Man’s most prominent comics include The Amazing Spider-Man, Web of Spider-Man, and Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man.

Peter Parker was the original Spider-Man but the Spider-Verse has become an important part of the character’s lore in recent years. Multiversal and future Spider-Men include Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, Miguel O’Hara and Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham. This provided the premise for the popular Spider-Verse film trilogy, which makes Miles its primary hero.

Spider-Man is also the basis of several live-action film franchises and numerous animated television series. He is one of the most recognizable characters in the world. While he’s changed a lot over the decades, Steve Ditko and Stan Lee gave the world an unforgettable hero when they created Spider-Man.
