Barton Cowperthwaite announced he is dealing with a serious medical condition.
The 31-year-old Tiny Pretty Things actor shared the news next to a photo of himself dressed in a hospital gown Friday.
‘So…. Yesterday I was diagnosed with at least a stage 2 Glioma,’ he announced matter of factly on Instagram.
‘It is a fairly decent sized brain tumor, he said, before explaining that the situation could have been much worse.
‘The tumor’s cells originate in the brain, so it’s not spread from a cancer anywhere else in the body.’

The Fosse/Verdun actor shared photos of his X-rays showing a large white mass.
‘The only course of treatment for something like this is brain surgery,’ he wrote.
‘Docs so far have been confident that they’ll be able to remove most of the tumor, and that after a successful operation, and some rehab, I will be operating like my (amazing, talented, brilliant, hilarious) self,’ he confidently explained.
‘That being said it seems like scans and check ups will be apart of my life for its lengthy remainder.’
A glioma is ‘a growth of cells that starts in the brain or spinal cord,’ according to the Mayo Clinic.
As the tumor grows, it can press on brain or spinal cord tissues and cause dangerous symptoms.

Michael Hsu Rosen sent a simple of support writing, ‘I love you so much Barton.’
In an update video Saturday, the dancer explained the tumor was discovered after he experienced a series of seizures.
‘I, over the past eight weeks, have had several seizures, the most recent of which landed me in the ER,’ he told the camera.
After a CAT scan, doctors discovered ‘a lemon-sized glioma’ in the right frontal lobe.
He was able to be discharged over the weekend, but the surgery will take place soon.
‘We’re gathering the troops and strategizing,’ Barton told his fans.
‘We’re meeting with some of the best of the best on Monday. And I’ll be able to decide where I want to get the surgery done next week.’
Support: The actor and his family set up a Go Fund Me account to help cover expenses during his recovery after offers of support from friends and fans. ‘Brain surgery isn’t cheap and I think it would be incredibly helpful for me if my family were able to be here, nearby,’ he said
After an outpouring of concern from friends and fans, Barton said he and his family are setting up a Go Fund Me account.
