Family Storytime
Join the Yelm Timberland Library from 10:30 to 11 a.m. every Thursday for family storytime. The event includes music, movement, books and activities for the whole family. Children must be accompanied by a participating adult. The library is at 210 Prairie Park St. NE in Yelm.
History Talks at the Schmidt House
History Talks at the Schmidt House in Tumwater resume for winter 2023-24 with a presentation at noon, Thursday, Nov. 2 at Schmidt House, 330 Schmidt Place SE, Tumwater. Julia Pinnix from the Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge Complex will speak on “A Confluence of Conservation: a History of the Nisqually Delta and the US Fish and Wildlife Service.” Admission is free, first come, first seated until room capacity is reached. Bigelow House Museum Tour
The Bigelow House Museum offers regular escorted tours on the first and second Sunday of the month at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Entrance fees are $5 per adult, $4 for seniors and students, and $2 for children. The museum is located at 918 Glass Ave. NE in Olympia.

Veterans Day Celebration and Concert
To celebrate Veterans Day, the City of Yelm’s Parks and Recreation department is hosting a Veterans Day celebration and concert at the Yelm City Park. The event will begin at noon on Saturday, Nov. 11. More details regarding the event will be released in the near future.

City of Yelm Charity “Turkey Bowl”
Set for 9 a.m. on Nov. 18 at Longmire Park, the City of Yelm is set to host a charity Turkey Bowl. Those interested in bringing a team to the charity sporting event can register at https://lf.yelmwa.gov/Forms/FlagFootballApp to reserve their spot.

Anytime Fitness “Turkey Trot”
Before families sit around the table to eat their Thanksgiving meals, Anytime Fitness is offering a holiday-morning activity for all families and community members to enjoy: its annual Turkey Trot event. Check-ins for the Turkey Trot begin at 8 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 23, with the actual 5-kilometer race starting at 9 p.m. Participants will meet at the Yelm Community Center before walking across the street to the Yelm-Rainier-Tenino Trail to begin the run. There will be a raffle for participants at 8:30 a.m.
Saturday, Dec. 2
Christmas Parade
The annual Christmas Parade, hosted by Yelm Chamber of Commerce, is set to begin at 9 a.m. on Dec. 2. Line up for the parade begins at 8 a.m. at Yelm Cinemas. Those interested can register at https://www.facebook.com/yelmchristmasinthepark/ or contact the chamber at 360-458-6608.

Winter Solstice Walk
The City of Yelm Parks and Recreation department is hosting the annual Winter Solstice Walk from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 21 at Cochrane Memorial Park, 10236 Mill Road SE. The department invites participants to walk throughout the candlelit Cochrane Park to celebrate the shortest day of the year. At the end of the walk, participants can enjoy a cup of warm apple cider.
