Alperen Sengun finished the match with 24 points on 10-for-19 shooting. The Houston Rockets big man also grabbed 8 rebounds and dished out 6 assists to record a team-leading 28 PIR.
After losing to Georgia two days ago, Turkey started the match strong with an 11-2 run to begin the game. After showing a solid scoring performance throughout the first three games of the tournament, Belgium managed to score just 6 points during the first 10 minutes.
Although the underdogs managed to narrow the deficit in the second quarter (30-37) after being down by 19 at one point, it was all that they could.
Turkey controlled the game during the second half, giving Belgium no chance to complete the second upset in a row after defeating Spain in the last round.
Besides Sengun, Furkan Korkmaz added 16 points to the victory on 6-for-12 shooting with 5 rebounds in his account. Haris Bratanovic was the top scorer on the Belgium roster with 15 points and 5 rebounds.
It is the third win for Turkey. Currently, they will take first place in Group A until Montenegro and Spain battle later today.
