Organisers of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games have apologised to those offended by the opening ceremony, amid controversy surrounding an apparent drag queen re-enactment of the Last Supper painting.
The segment, which recreated the biblical scene of Jesus Christ and his apostles sharing a last meal before the crucifixion, featured drag queens, a transgender model and a naked singer made up as the Greek god of wine Dionysus – drawing dismay from the Catholic Church.

Triathlon training session cancelled due to poor water quality
As expected, the Olympics’ triathlon swimming training session scheduled for today has been cancelled due to water pollution in the Seine, organisers have announced.
This comes after recent heavy rain in Paris affected pollution levels in the river, according to the organisers.
“The tests carried out in the Seine yesterday revealed water quality levels that in the view of the international federation, World Triathlon, did not provide sufficient guarantees to allow the event to be held,” said Paris 2024.
