Spain defeated Germany 2-1 in the quarter-finals of “EURO 2024” in a spectacular competition for 120 minutes.

However, the result could have been different if the English referee, Anthony Taylor, would have given Germany a penalty , but he didn’t.

Xhamal Musiala’s shot from outside the area hit Mark Kukureja’s left hand on the way to the target which was the net.

The UEFA official rejected the penalty claim despite the Spanish player being inside his own penalty area.

However, there was a valid reason why the English referee did not choose to penalize Kukureja’s act.

Referees usually take the player’s aim and hand position into account when awarding a penalty. In this case, Kukurejsa’s hand was moving towards his body and was in a vertical position, which could indicate that he did not intend to stop the ball with his hand.

Therefore, due to the vertical position of the hand, the penalty may not have been awarded. Taylor was convinced of the decision from the first moment, having the action in front of him.
