LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Two suspects in two separate Southern California police chases were taken into custody Monday evening as the Memorial Day weekend came to an end.

Carjacking suspect arrested after chase on 405 Freeway from LA to OC

A suspect was taken into custody Monday evening after leading authorities on a chase on the 405 Freeway from Los Angeles to Orange County.

The suspect was reportedly wanted in connection with a carjacking, though further details weren’t immediately available.

AIR7 HD footage showed the suspect driving a black Toyota Tundra at mostly normal speeds with very little traffic on the freeway. He drove through Los Angeles County, making his way south into Orange County

The suspect began slowing down around 8:20 p.m. and ultimately came to a stop at the Center Avenue exit. He rolled down his window and put his hands out as five California Highway Patrol units sat behind him.

A few moments later, he opened his door but didn’t fully exit the vehicle. He appeared to be communicating with officers before making a move.

Soon after, five CHP officers slowly approached the suspect with their guns drawn. One of the officers grabbed the suspect by the hand and he was taken into custody.

Reckless driver in custody after chase in Compton

A second chase that started in the Compton area involved a reported reckless driver.

The suspect, who was seen tossing items out of his pickup truck, stayed mostly in surface streets in both the Compton and Long Beach area.

The pursuit didn’t last long.

He turned into a parking lot of South Frailey Avenue where he was ultimately taken into custody.
