Irish fans racing to Paris to cheer on Olympic stars

Some 10,000 Irish fans are expected to travel to Paris in July and August for a “bucket list trip” to support Team Ireland at the Olympic Games where a record number of Irish athletes are set to compete — with many being forced to pay over €1,000 per night for a hotel room.

A total of 92 athletes across 14 sports have been confirmed for Team Ireland to date, but the Olympics Federation of Ireland (OFI) is hopeful that this could increase to up to 130 by July, with some qualifications still ongoing.
