2 dead after collision on 5 Freeway on-ramp in Commerce

A crash in Commerce claimed the lives of two people early Saturday. 

According to a CHP spokesperson, the multi-vehicle traffic collision was reported shortly after 7 a.m. on the Slauson Avenue on-ramp to the 5 Freeway. 


A SigAlert was issued for the affected stretch of the 5 Freeway and the on-ramp, temporarily shutting both down. The #1, #2 and #3 lanes were opened as of 10:30 a.m. Saturday, CHP announced, but the fourth lane and the Slauson Avenue on-ramp are set to remain closed for an unknown duration.

The identities of the deceased have not been released, and what caused the crash remains unknown.
